John Muir (born April 21, 1838, Dunbar, Scotland – died December 24, 1914, Los Angeles, California), Scottish-born American naturalist, author, and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States. Louisiana Erwin born in Tennessee, moved with her family to Texas where she met and married John Strentzel, a Polish doctor, in 1843. They went by wagon train to California in 1849 with their two children. Their oldest child Louise married John Muir in 1880. Louisiana Erwin Strentzel died around 1897 in Martinez, Calif.
